WHITESTOWN — A 46-year-old man was charged with drug possession after he was found with methamphetamine while riding a bicycle, according to the Whitesboro Police Department.

Police said Lucas K. Payne, of Yorkville, and another man were riding bicycles on Clark Mills Road in Whitestown around 9:40 a.m. Friday, with one of the men carrying an automotive rim. Officers with the Whitestown Police Department stopped the pair and contacted Whitesboro Police because Payne had an open warrant for seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, police said.

The two men were searched and police said Payne was found with a quantity of meth. A second charge of seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance was filed against Payne, police stated.

Several possibly stolen items were found in the search, authorities said, so the investigation is ongoing. Payne was released on appearance tickets to Whitesboro Village court for the drug charges.
