YMCA’s Changing Lives Golf Tournament raises funds to aid many in community

The YMCA’s annual Changing Lives Golf Tournament will be held Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Rome Country Club, 5342 Rome-Taberg Road.

The Corporate Cup Challenge begins at 11 a.m. with registration and lunch served in the Rome Country Club clubhouse and complimentary range balls for warm-up through noon.

The 18-hole tournament gets underway at noon with a shotgun start with carts. Each cart will be professionally labeled with starting hole assignments.

A 5 p.m. dinner immediately follows the tournament with a cash bar throughout dinner.

The day also includes awards, contests and raffles, according to an announcement by tournament organizers.

Captain and crew foursomes should pre-register at http://www.ymcatrivalley.org/events/changing-lives-golf-tournament. Registration fee is $400 per team. 

“This tournament helps fund the YMCA’s Changing Lives Campaign,” said tournament committee chairman and YMCA board member Lauren Cupp. “For every $200 raised through this tournament, a child can attend Y Summer Camp or receive a YMCA membership.”

Tournament participants and businesses can also change lives as an event sponsor.

Sponsorships include: Title Sponsor, $4,000; Dinner Sponsor, $2,000; Golf Cart Sponsor, $1,000; Lunch/Registration Sponsor, $1,000; Raffle Sponsor, $1,000; Corporate Sponsor, $550; Putting Contest, $500; Driving Range, $500 or Hole Sponsor, $125.

“The YMCA is committed to serving everyone in our community and never turns anyone away regardless of their inability to pay for memberships or programs,” Cupp said.

“Every year, we award approximately $400,000 in financial assistance through our Changing Lives Campaign,” the YMCA board member added.

“The YMCA 34th Annual Changing Lives Golf Tournament is held in memory of Frank Martinelli, a past Y member and served as president of the YMCA Board of Directors,” noted Hank Leo, CEO, YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley. “Frank’s commitment to the Y’s mission was unwavering.”
