ROME — Beginning Monday, July 11, the Rome YMCA will hold 16 free outdoor fitness classes at Jervis Public Library, 613 N. Washington St.

“This is a great opportunity to get outdoors and practice healthy self-care,” said Aaron Calandra, Rome Y Wellness Team Leader. “Bring your friends and meet our instructors!”

Classes are structured to accommodate all fitness levels in a fun and supportive environment, she added. Participants are encouraged to bring water and a towel.

Mondays, July 11, 18, 25 and Aug. 1:

  • 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. – Strong Nation with Madison: a class synchronized to music to burn calories and tone muscles
  • 5:30 – 6:16 p.m. – Zumba with Madison: improve your heart with a Latin and International inspired cardio class

Wednesdays, July 13, 20, 27 and Aug. 3:

  • 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. – Strength Training with Michelle: get motivated for a full-body strength and core workout set to upbeat, popular music
  • 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. – Tai Chi with Michelle: a gentle form of physical exercise and stretching that includes a series of movements performed in a slow, focused way

“The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley is pleased to be partnering with Jervis Library to bring this free fitness program to the community,” Calandra said.

All classes are held weather permitting. Participants are encouraged to download the free YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley app in your app store for class cancellations and schedules.
