ROME — Jervis Public Library will be hosting a free fraud and scam alert workshop on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 8.

The Preventing Fraud and Scam workshop will start at 6 p.m. at the library on North Washington Street.

The workshop will be hosted by Mary Chmielewski and Adrianne Plumley of Berkshire Bank, who have a combined 53 years in the banking industry. They will help attendees recognize and prevent fraud schemes.

The one-hour program will cover such topics as common frauds, scams that target seniors and why seniors are targeted, charity frauds, identity theft, and what steps to take if you think your identity has been stolen.

Registration is required to attend the workshop.
