SYRACUSE — This fall, those who visit WonderWorks Syracuse will have the opportunity to have fun, learn, and show off their artistic abilities at Destiny USA.
The family-fun attraction will offer a variety of new programs for the season that are meant to excite young minds, engage the community and create fun memories. With programs such as the annual art contest, National STEM Day and Saturdays in Space, students and families will be offered several fun learning opportunities at the upside-down house this semester.
“We love hosting educational programs throughout the year that engage our community and excite our students. We’re excited to open applications for the second round of our CNY Art Contest,” explained Jon Cascella, general manager for WonderWorks Syracuse. “We loved seeing their faces when they finally saw their artwork on display. Programs like the art contest and National STEM Day offer us the opportunity to go above and beyond for our Syracuse community.” Fun fall programs at WonderWorks Syracuse include:
• CNY Art – The WonderWorks Art Contest is now accepting submissions for its 2022 art gallery. For the second year, the contest’s theme is “Imagination.” The application deadline is Wednesday, Dec. 15.
Local artists will have their work displayed at WonderWorks for a whole year, and the winners will receive complimentary tickets to visit the gallery to see their work on display. • Saturdays in Space – WonderWorks is hosting Saturdays in Space every Saturday during the month of October. Viewers can tune in each week to learn more about space and what it takes to be an astronaut through the “Ask An Astronaut” Q&A video series. Last month, local students were asked to submit questions for former NASA astronaut Dr. Don Thomas to answer, and his responses are being posted on the WonderWorks YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcYvNfuGMZE&t=81sz.
• National STEM Day – In honor of National STEM Day, WonderWorks Syracuse will honor the importance of STEM by offering guests fun science labs and experiments to participate in throughout the building on Saturday, Nov. 6. The labs will give people a chance to explore the principles of pressure, temperature, density, origami, and more. These special programs will be available in addition to the more than 100 hands-on interactive exhibits offered year-long.
“These are so many fun ways to learn more about science,” added Cascella. “Fall should be great at WonderWorks Syracuse.”
