Winter Solstice Lantern workshop Dec. 15
OLD FORGE — Weaving Home will offer a Winter Solstice Lantern workshop at the Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd., on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 4 pm. The crafting workshop is free and all materials will be provided.
Winter solstice has been celebrated all over the world for thousands of years. It occurs on the shortest day and longest night.
Although this is often the first day of winter, it also promises the return of the sun after an extended period of darkness.
Your lantern can be used to light up the night on Dec. 21, the shortest day of the year. It will be a perfect addition to bring to the Winter Solstice Celebration that will be held locally on the library grounds.
Registration is preferred to assure enough supplies will be on hand. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. To register, call 315 369-6008 or e-mail oldforge@midyork.org.
