Whitesboro girls splash to unbeaten Center State season


The Whitesboro girls swimming and diving team completed an undefeated regular season with a 59-26 over visiting Holland Patent Tuesday in the Center State League

Whitesboro won two relays: the 200 medley relay team of Reina Loiacano, Kenna Olejarnik, Sophie Spina and Sienna Martin; and the 200 freestyle relay team of Reina Loiacano, Alexa Loiacano, Spina and Martin.

Reina Loiacano also won the 100 and 200 freestyle. Alexa Loiacano won the 100 backstroke. Olejarnik also won the 200 individual medley. Martin won the 500 freestyle. Josephine Jenne won the 100 butterfly for the Warriors.

HP’s 400 freestyle relay team of Madeline Cieslak, Valerie Shivas, Kyleigh Razzano and Jillian Enk won.

Razzano also won the 50 freestyle. Enk won the 100 breaststroke.

Whitesboro finishes its season 12-0.

HP ends the season 1-12.

The league’s diving championship is set for 5 p.m. Thursday at Utica Proctor.

The swimming championship will be 5 p.m. Friday at Holland Patent.

Adirondack swims past RFA

The Adirondack girls swimming and diving team dominated Rome Free Academy in a meet in Rome Tuesday, 118-63 in the Center State.

The Wildcats won all three relays: the 200 medley team of Tesslyn Makuch, Teagan Makuch, Madison Schoff and Kailee Underwood; the 200 freestyle team of Paige Renwick, Emma Flansburg, Camryn Backer and Kaitlyn Spann; and the 400 freestyle team of Spann, Schoff, Backer and Renwick.

Renwick also won the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Backer won the 50 freestyle. Teagan Makuch won the 100 breaststroke.

Hayley Kowalewsky of Adirondack won the diving event.

RFA’s Alexandra Mecca won the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley.

Imani Pugh won the 100 freestyle for the Black Knights, while Lydia Muller won the 500 freestyle.

Adirondack finishes the season at 11-3.

RFA was 9-4 this season.
