UTICA — “What’s Upstate,” an initiative to promote the Mohawk Valley, is hosting a casting call for positive, energetic and influential residents of Herkimer and Oneida counties to share their stories about what the local area means to them. The casting call is open until Monday, Oct. 18. Those interested are encouraged to visit whatsupstateny.com to apply.

The stories will be featured on the upcoming What’s Upstate website, in video or testimonial form, to showcase and highlight the people in the area and tell our region’s story.

Several area organizations, including the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce, the Community Foundation, the Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce, Mohawk Valley EDGE, Oneida County Tourism, the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce and the Genesis Group have come together to create What’s Upstate, a regionally focused website that will be a one-stop shop to showcase all the reasons why Upstate New York is more than just a great place to live. The site will also be used to connect resources in Oneida and Herkimer counties to enhance area employers’ ability to recruit, relocate and retain employees.
