What are you dealing with?

Posted

It is a well-known feature of Google. Start typing in a search, and Google offers suggestions before you have finished typing. These suggestions are based on popularity (most common searches), your location (ie: pizza in… “Rome, NY”), and what Google deems relevant.

When you google, “How do I deal with…” the seven words that finish this question are anxiety, depression, stress, anger, loneliness, jealousy, my emotions.

Amazing to see how deep these go. Let’s be honest, when we are walking through hard times, we are looking for answers on how to deal with the issue, how to respond to the problem, or simply live in light of what we are walking through.

What is at the end of your Google search this past year? How do I deal with…? What is your answer?

I know in my life when I am going through hard times I want be encouraged, offered hope, know that someone understands and can walk with me, and lastly be given a vision for how to move forward.

Today, I want to offer four points of hope in how to deal with your ___________.

Surrender whatever it is to Jesus. Give it to Him. Jesus came to set the captives and the oppressed free from their bondage (Luke 4:18-19) Have you given your _______________ fully to Jesus?

Have you looked to Jesus for healing? One of the greatest aspects of Jesus’ ministry while He walked the earth was healing people physically, emotionally, and spiritually (Luke 4:18-19)

Do you have someone in your life to spur you on? Proverbs 27:17 says, “As Iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Who in your life can you share your grief, hurt, and anger? This person accepts you but also challenges you. Do you have anyone in your life like this? In not, is there someone you can ask to enter a relationship like this? I know in my life I need outside voices to speak into my situations.

Join a local church. Here are Rome Alliance our mission is to invite others to share in the hope, healing, and love of gospel. Our church is not just a place people gather on Sunday’s to go through a ritual or format. We live life together. We connect throughout the week. A place where it’s OK to not be OK! A place where you will find hope, healing, and love as you live life together. Find a church where these things are present and join it!

I don’t have the space to write full details on these four points of hope. If you have any questions on any of these points, I would love to have a conversation with you. You email me at bryce@romealliancechurch.org. Let’s connect as you deal with _______ in 2021.

May this year be a year of change and transformation.
