Wessing joins MACNY team
The Manufacturers Association of Central New York has announced that Samantha Wessing has joined its team as a workforce development specialist. In this role, Wessing will support MACNY’s New York State Manufacturers Intermediary Apprenticeship Program (NYSMIAP).
She will play an integral role in maintaining relationships with new and existing companies participating in NYSMIAP, while also coordinating related instruction and on-the-job training for apprentices, the announcement said, adding Wessing will also be actively engaged in workforce development initiatives supporting the expansion of the current apprenticeship program, as well as new initiatives that support advancing opportunities for women in manufacturing.
“We are excited to welcome Samantha to MACNY’s growing workforce development team. As our members’ workforce needs continue to expand, Samantha’s role will add so much value to our apprenticeship program initiatives that are bringing opportunities to both employers and community members throughout New York State,” said MACNY President and CEO Randy Wolken.
Before joining MACNY, Wessing worked more than five years at Cazenovia College where she progressed from assistant director of admissions to senior assistant director of admissions. She also has a background in broadcasting and meteorology in the Utica area.
Wessing has bachelor’s degrees in broadcasting and mass media as well as meteorology — both from State University of New York at Oswego.
“Samantha is excited to get to know MACNY’s member companies,” the announcement added. She can be reached via email at swessing@macny.org.
