Weapons charge follows traffic stop


A Utica man was arrested with a loaded handgun on Erie Boulevard East early Wednesday according to law enforcement officials.

Police said Miguel A. Fernandez, 36, of Hubball Street, Utica, was pulled over in the 200 block early Wednesday for tinted windows on his motor vehicle.

Once stopped, police said they found a loaded .45-caliber automatic handgun in the trunk, and found that the license plates had been switched.

Fernandez is charged with one count each of felony second-degree possession of a weapon, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operator, improper plates and tinted windows, police stated.

He is scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges according to the law enforcers.
