VVS to offer online pre-K, kindergarten registration
VERONA — Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School pre-kindergarten and kindergarten registration for the 2023-24 school year will be held online March 17. The link will go live at 9 a.m. and they cannot accept anything prior to that date and time.
Registration is available on the VVS website, under the prospective elementary building. Students currently attending a VVS pre-K program do not need a new registration form for kindergarten.
Children may participate in pre-kindergarten if they will be 4 years of age on or before Dec. 1, 2023. Children may participate in kindergarten if they will be 5 years of age on or before Dec. 1, 2023. Any child who turns 6 years of age between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024 must attend school during the 2023-24 school year.
The pre-kindergarten program runs for three hours per day. Enrollment in the VVS pre-kindergarten program is on a first come, first served basis regardless of the child’s home elementary school.
While every effort is made to place children in their home elementary school, the class size limit of 18 children per class may result in some children attending an elementary school within the VVS district other than their home school.
The program is coordinated to be the same in each school; therefore, parents can be confident that their child will receive a quality pre-kindergarten program.
Transportation routes will be established during the month of July. If a child attends a pre-kindergarten class outside of the home elementary school area, transportation will not be available.
The location of the child’s home or childcare provider within the elementary school area assigned is the sole determiner of placement in the morning or afternoon class. Individual requests for morning or afternoon cannot be accommodated.
Application, health history and immunization forms are available in each school building.
Additionally, proof of age, immunization record and two proofs of residency must be provided. These can be emailed, mailed or dropped off to your elementary building.
For more information on the VVS pre-kindergarten program, contact the building principal.
