View announces sculpture exhibit award winners

OLD FORGE — View has announced the award winners of the New York State Juried Sculpture Exhibit. The exhibition is available to be viewed at View or online by visiting www.ViewArts.org/Exhibitions.

The top three prizes were awarded to the following: First Place went to “Vestige Vessel #7” by Stephen Saracino from Buffalo, New York. Second Place was awarded to Brian Menia, from Morrisonville, New York, for “Frank.” And Third Place went to “Rolling Hills” by Carl Shanahan from Hemlock, New York.

Honorable Mentions were awarded to “Socially Distant” by Marc-Anthony Polizzi from Utica, New York, “Sway” by Bill Hastings from Ithaca, New York, “Self-Sabotage” by Catherine Spencer from Syracuse, New York, “Red Stand-In” by Nancy Azara from New York, New York, and “Melancholia” by Stephen Saracino.

The Juror of Selections/Awards was ceramicist and art educator Matt Wilt, who is an award-winning artist both nationally and internationally. Educated at Penn State University and Ohio University, Wilt was also an apprentice at Moravian Pottery and Tileworks and earned a Fellowship and Resident Artist positions at The Clay Studio. Experience in architectural terra cotta restoration and travel in the Far East further inform the work of this talented artist and head of the ceramics program at Skidmore College.
