Victim recovering from gunshot wounds; Utica police seek information from public


One man is recovering from gunshot wounds to both legs after an encounter on Watson Place in Utica shortly after midnight on Wednesday, according to law enforcement officials.

Police said the victim was in a third-floor apartment at 14 Watson Place at about 12:20 a.m. when the suspect entered the apartment and engaged the occupants in conversation. Police said the suspect then pulled out a handgun and shot the victim once, with the bullet striking both legs.

The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Police said his injuries are not serious.
