VERONA — Fred “Fritz” Scherz, Jr., councilman on the Verona Town Board, will host his 11th annual Holiday Party for all town of Verona residents from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Verona Fire Hall, 5555 Volunteer Ave.

The party will return after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.

“To my family and I, it’s a Christmas party, as we enjoy celebrating that holiday. However, I call it a holiday party as I want folks who don’t celebrate Christmas to know that they are still welcome to attend,” Scherz said.

The councilman has not finalized the complete event line-up, but he plans on having family-oriented activities such as face painting by Bingo the Clown, singing by his kids, painting, musicians, story-telling by a few special guests, and more.

There will be a special musical performance by a veteran who has performed at the Thanksgiving Polka Weekend in Cleveland, Ohio.

“Hopefully, Santa Claus will take time out of his busy schedule to attend,” Scherz remarked.

The holiday party is free to attend, and snacks will also be available. If able, attendees are asked to bring a canned good to support the Verona Food Pantry.
