VERONA — St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will offer drive-thru ashes for Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Anyone may follow the signs in the parking lot to receive a cross of ashes on their forehead and prayer without leaving the car. Ashes will be offered between 6:30 and 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the side door, and 4 to 6 p.m.

Those feeling unwell are asked to wear a mask. Those placing the ashes will have masks ready to wear if needed. St. Peter’s will also offer an in-person worship service at noon and an online worship service at 7 p.m. on Zoom and Facebook Live.

Ashes are a symbol of human brokenness and the need for forgiveness and healing. Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, a Christian season of contemplation, reflection and repentance consisting of the 40 days minus Sundays leading up to Easter.
