Armante “Bo” Ventiquattro won the Northeast Region 5 Championship on Saturday at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre University campus and will now head to the National Finals for the Elks Hoop Shoot competition in the boys 8-9 age division. He represents the Boonville Lodge.

Ventiquattro went 10-for-10 in the first round against Pennsylvania state champion Tanner Calarco and New Jersey state champion Ciro Boniello. He then went 14-of-15 in the second round to win.

The finals will be on April 22 in Chicago, Illinois at Wintrust Arena. He will be the first contestant to ever represent this lodge in the 51 years of this competition. In 1998, Mario Ventiquattro, first cousin to Bo’s father, represented Carthage in the National Finals.

Ventiquattro will not be alone in his travels to Chicago. Also representing Team New York on the national level will be Thomas Goodelle of New Hartford, representing Utica Lodge in the 12-13 boys division and Riley Hodkinson, a Vernon-Verona-Sherrill student, representing Oneida Lodge in the 10-11 girls division.

Each will compete against 11 other regional champions from all corners of the U.S.
