UTICA — The city of Utica will be entering the final week of green waste pickup for the year. Starting Monday, Nov. 14 and going until Friday, Nov. 18, various sections of the city will have their final day of green waste pickup.

  • Monday, Nov. 14 — Last day for green waste pickup for north Utica, from Broad Street and N.Y.C. and H.R. Railroad, north to the city line.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 15 — Last day for green waste pickup for upper east Utica, from Eagle Street and Welshbush Road, south to the city line and east of Genesee Street, Memorial Parkway and Oneida Street.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 16 — Last day for green waste pickup for south Utica, from Burrstone Road, south to the city line and west of Oneida Street.
  • Thursday, Nov. 17 — Last day for green waste pickup for lower east Utica, from Broad Street to Eagle Street and east of Genesee Street.
  • Friday, Nov. 18 — Last day for green waste pickup for west Utica, from Oriskany Street to Burrstone Road and west of Genesee Street.

As with previous weeks, green waste pickup dates are subject to change at the DPW Commissioner's discretion. Weather and unforeseen circumstances can cause pickup delays for certain sections of the city and city officials ask residents to be patient with crews if a delay were to happen.

Green waste that's allowed to be left on the curb to be picked up includes grass clippings, leaves, weeds, flowers, bundled limbs and branches that are no longer than 4 inches and under 50 pounds.

Items that are not allowed include household garbage, plant pots, soil, shrubs, stumps, logs, trees, plastic, bricks, cement, lumber, construction debris, hazardous waste or chemicals.

Large green waste such as trees, shrubs, logs and stumps can be picked up by the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority, however, a pickup needs to be scheduled by calling 315-731-0238 and a fee will be charged for the removal.

Any bulk green waste that is piled outside during the remainder of the year will be cited by the city.
