Utica man faces assault, gun charges in shooting
UTICA — A Utica man is accused of shooting another man in the abdomen on Stark Street earlier this month, according to the Utica Police Department.
Police said Fred Bowman, 48, shot a man in the 900 block of Stark St. on Jan. 9 and then fled the scene. The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, police noted, and he was treated after the shooting.
Following an investigation, police said Bowman was later identified and taken into custody on Wednesday.
Bowman is charged with one count each of attempted first-degree assault and second-degree possession of a weapon, authorities stated. He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
