ONEONTA — Two Rome men have been charged with felony grand larceny for stealing from the Walmart in Oneonta in Otsego County, according to the New York State Police.

State police said Joseph M. Murray, 38, and John W. Grass, 33, stole several items from the Walmart on Highway 23 at about 3 p.m. March 3. Troopers said Murray loaded stolen items into a truck, while Grass was still inside the store taking more items.

During questioning, troopers said Grass gave a fake name to hide the fact that he was wanted on an open warrant by the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

Both Murray and Grass are charged with one count each of felony fourth-degree grand larceny, troopers said. Grass is additionally charged with second-degree obstruction of a governmental administration and false personation, authorities said. Both men were issued appearance tickets to Oneonta Town Court for March 21, and Grass was turned over into the custody of the Sheriff's Office.
