LEE — Two drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles and sent to Rome Hospital following a head-on collision on Turin Road Thursday afternoon.

Deputy Daniel J. Walts said on arrival, deputies determined that Jason Nellenback, 21, of West Leyden, was driving a 2012 GMC suburban southbound and due to failure to maintain his lane, his vehicle crossed the double-solid center lines and struck a gray 2016 Subaru suburban head-on operated by Eleanor Kaido, 88, of West Leyden, who was northbound at 3:55 p.m.

Upon impact, Deputy Walts said Nellenback's vehicle continued off the east shoulder of the roadway and struck a guardrail before coming to rest.

Nellenback was transported to Rome Hospital for head and neck pain. Kaido was also transported to Rome Hospital for chest pain. Nellenback was charged with failure to keep right and will appear in Lee Town Court.

Lee Center Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance and the state police assisted.
