Two charged in Utica shooting, police say

A man and woman have both been charged after the man fired several shots into another person’s vehicle on Kemble Street in Utica on Friday, according to law enforcement officials.

Police officials said Rebekah Wilsey, 26, and Rashad Taylor, 24, were in a vehicle when they got into an argument with the occupants of a second vehicle in the 1500 block of Kemble St. on Friday.

Police said both vehicles pulled to the side of the road and Taylor got out, firing several shots at the second vehicle.

The victim fled the scene and was found by police a short time later. They were not injured. Police said there were several spent shell casings found in the 1500 block.

A description of Wilsey’s vehicle was passed out and she and Taylor were found soon after. Police said a loaded 9mm handgun was found in a bag on the passenger side floor.

Taylor and Wilsey are both charged with one count each of second-degree possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, police stated. They are scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
