Two area residents hospitalized after separate crashes, authorities say

Two local residents had to be air-lifted to a Syracuse Hospital after separate crashes in Jefferson County this weekend, according to law enforcement officials.

• State police said Daniel E. Porter, 62, of Chittenango, Madison County, was westbound on Route 12 in Alexandria at about 3:12 p.m. when he attempted to pass another vehicle that was making a turn. Troopers said Porter’s 2020 Nissan pickup truck collided with a 2009 Chevy Trailblazer, which was pulling out of a parking lot onto Route 12.

Porter was air-lifted to University Hospital in Syracuse for internal injuries, troopers said. He was last listed in stable condition.

The driver of the Chevy, Brandon N. Bosveld, was taken to River Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, troopers stated.

• In the town of Hounsfield, state police said Christopher M. Thompson, 27, of Watertown, was westbound on Route 62 at about 8:18 p.m. Friday when his 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck went off the south shoulder.

Troopers said the Dodge rolled over several times and passenger Joshua A. Mushak, 33, of Verona, was thrown from the truck.

Mushak was air-lifted to University Hospital in Syracuse and was last listed in critical condition, troopers said.

Thompson was taken to the Samaritan Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
