Turning Stone crowns first seven World Series of Poker circuit winners
VERONA — Approaching the final weekend of World Series of Poker events at Turning Stone, there have been more than 8,000 entries and prize pools of four to eight times the guaranteed amount.
The largest event at Turning Stone continues throughout the weekend with a minimum of $500,000 to be won. Players can register for this event and the tournament ends on Monday, March 27.
Seven Circuit winners have been crowned: six from Upstate New York and one from Stafford Springs, Connecticut. Nearly all are first-time circuit winners.
WSOP Circuit winners receive cash prizes, WSOP Gold Rings – the trophy of the circuit event – and a chance to compete in the $1 million Tournament of Champions in Las Vegas this summer.
Event one winner Steven Goodemonte of Canandaigua won $39,688 and his first Gold Ring.
Event two winner Timothy Russ of Rochester won $116,971 and his first Gold Ring.
Event three winner Alden Palmer of Connecticut took home $35,250 and his first Gold Ring.
Event four winner John Bieber of Trumansburg won $36,024 and his first Gold Ring.
Event five winner Jeffery Kurtz of Camillus, the series’ first two-time ring winner, won $37,653.
Event six winner Tyler Dietz of Lewiston took home $34,085 and his first Gold Ring.
Event seven winner Ryan Dell of Rochester won $27,025 and his first Gold Ring.
