Tops Friendly Markets launches campaign for Children’s Miracle Network


WILLIAMSVILLE — Tops Friendly Markets will kick off its annual campaign for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals on Sunday June 20 at participating locations.

Customers can support the CMNH campaign by purchasing a $1 Children’s Miracle Network Miracle Balloon or round up their change with the proceeds to be donated to several participating women’s and children’s hospitals.

The company and its customers and associates have raised more than $1.8 million for the Children’s Miracle Network.

“If this past year has taught us anything, it’s reinforced how vital our medical community is to the health and welfare of our
community,” said John Persons, president, Tops Friendly

“We are very thankful to all the front line workers that perform miracles every day in the respective hospitals. Now more than ever, they need our support to assist in having the necessary funds available to them to provide the proper care for our most valuable assets — our children,” Persons added.

Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare Foundation in Utica and the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse are among nearly a dozen hospitals to benefit from the campaign.

More than 10 million kids enter a children’s hospital across North America each year, the announcement said, adding that many of these hospitals rely on donations and community support, as Medicaid and insurance programs do not fully cover the cost of care.

Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has helped fill those funding gaps by raising more than $7 billion, most of it $1 at a time through Miracle Balloon icon campaigns.

The campaign will run through Saturday, July 3.
