Top scholars for Class of 2023 announced in Camden
CAMDEN — Camden High School Principal Christopher Centner has announced that Connor Perrotta and Jacey Hinds have been named the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for the district’s Class of 2023.
Perrotta, the valedictorian, is the son of Joseph and Vicki Perrotta of Lee Center. After graduation, he plans to attend college to major in creative writing/English. His goal is to become a great novelist.
Hinds, the salutatorian, is the daughter of Jason and Billie Jo Hinds of Blossvale. After graduation, she will attend Mohawk Valley Community College to major in psychology. Hinds plans to continue playing sports at the collegiate level while earning her degree. She hopes to use her education in psychology to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
In addition to announcing this year’s valedictorian and salutatorian, Centner also announced the Top 10 scholars in the Class of 2023.
They include:
Placing third in the class is Katie Hite, the daughter of Dustin and Christina Hite of Camden. She plans to attend the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse to pursue a degree in landscape architecture. Her goal is to use her degree to open and run her own landscape architecture business. Although Hite plans to stay close to home to help revitalize the local area, she plans to travel the world for inspiration.
Taking the fourth place in the Class of 2023 is Morgan Keil, the daughter of Michael and Jennifer Keil of Blossvale. She plans to attend Rochester Institute of Technology to major in psychology and American Sign Language and then work in a school setting to advocate for students and help them with their personal struggles.
Marjorie Castilla, the niece of Stephanie Allen of Camden, is fifth in the class, Centner said. Castilla plans to attend SUNY Cortland and major in biology/biomedical sciences. Her goals are to pursue a career in the medical field where she can help others.
Placing sixth in the class is Koen Turner, the son of James and Heidi Turner of Taberg. Turner plans to attend college to major in civil engineering. His goals include becoming an engineer for New York state. In his free time, he hopes to improve his bowling skills.
Taking the seventh spot is Marina Mikhaylyuk, the daughter of Vasiliy and Angela Mikhaylyuk of Taberg. She plans to attend Spartanburg Community College in South Carolina to study Nursing. Her immediate goals are to relocate to South Carolina and begin her journey towards a nursing career. She hopes to travel the world and eventually own her own coffee shop.
Jerome Seidl, the son of Christina Seidl of Cleveland, is eighth in the Class of 2023. He plans to attend SUNY ESF where he will major in environmental resource engineering. His goal is to work in hydropower/water management as he is intrigued by the workings of water systems, hydroponics, water sheds, and water storage.
Named ninth in the class is Connor MacArthur, the son of Amy MacArthur of Camden. He plans to attend college, to cherish every part of his life, and to find success in his career to allow him to provide for his family.
Erica Zike, the daughter of Jim and Brenda Zike of Taberg, placed tenth in the Class of 2023. She plans to attend Utica University and major in psychology. Additionally, she plans to earn professional degrees in psychology and embark on a career that makes her happy and allows her to help as many people as she can. She also hopes to have the ability to travel the world.
