NEW HARTFORD — Two employees contracted to work at the Target at Sangertown Square are accused of stealing nearly $6,000 in merchandise through faked sales, according to the New Hartford Police Department.

Police said Reginald Porter, 30, and Alysa Story, 19, both of Utica, worked together to complete fraudulent transactions at Target in order to steal more than $5,800 worth of merchandise. Police said Porter and Story were employed by Market Source, a job placement agency, and were contracted to work at the Target store.

The pair were taken into custody after authorities were notified on Tuesday. Police said the thefts took place over the course of the past month.

Porter and Story are both charged with one count each of third-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records, both felonies, police stated. They were arraigned in New Hartford Town Court and were each released on their own recognizance. They are scheduled to reappear in court.
