VERNON — A suspicious package found at a home on East Seneca Street in Vernon on Friday remains under investigation, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office. 

Sheriff's deputies said they were called to the Vernon Apartments at about 11:12 p.m. Friday for a suspicious package on the porch of one of the apartments. Deputies secured the area and called in  New York State Police bomb technicians to investigate the package.

The item was deemed safe, authorities stated. The investigation remains ongoing.
