An alarm security alert outside Rome Labs resulted in law enforcement briefly closing off nearby streets Thursday morning.
Rome Police said the security scanners at the Air Force Information Directorate on Brooks Road pinged a suspicious material on an incoming FedEx delivery truck at about mid-morning on Thursday. Law enforcement closed down nearby streets and state police bomb-sniffing K-9s were brought in as a precaution.
Police said the scanner ping turned out to be a false alarm and there was no danger. Police said false alarms can be fairly common and precautions are always taken.
