SUNY Poly, Hamilton College basketball teams ready for conference tournaments
The postseason begins this weekend for the SUNY Poly and Hamilton College basketball teams.
The Hamilton men’s team and the SUNY Poly women’s team each have home games in the respective NCAA Division III conference tournaments.
The SUNY Poly women’s basketball team is the top seed in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West Division.
After finishing the divisional schedule with a 10-0 mark, SUNY Poly gets to host the first and second rounds of the NAC Championship Tournament. No. 1 SUNY Poly will get a visit from No. 4 NVU-Johnson (14-11) at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the school’s Campus Center Gym.
SUNY Poly earned wins in two previous meetings against NVU-Johnson this season. SUNY Poly is 13-12 overall this season.
The Hamilton College men’s team is No. 2 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tournament for the first time since 2019 and will take on Connecticut College.
The teams are set to meet in a tournament quarterfinal at 2 p.m. Saturday at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House in Clinton.
Hamilton finished the regular season with a 16-8 record and tied for first place in the conference with a 7-3 record.
Hamilton topped visiting Conn. College 72-62 on Feb. 5.
The SUNY Poly men’s team is the No. 3 seed in the NAC’s West Division and will play on the road.
SUNY Poly is set to face No. 2 seed SUNY Cobleskill in the opening round. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. Friday at SUNY Delhi.
SUNY Poly finished 8-6 in the conference and is 13-12 overall this season.
The Hamilton women’s basketball team is the fifth seed in the NESCAC tournament.
The team finished tied for fourth in the conference at 5-5 and is 12-10 overall. The Continentals will travel to Middlebury, Vermont for a NESCAC quarterfinal against Middlebury College at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Hamilton is making its fifth appearance in the tournament and is going for its first win.
