A pair of power outages this morning has left some 1,200 National Grid customers in west Rome without power and is forcing the Rome City School District to send students at Strough Middle School on Laurel Street home early.
"At roughly 9:08 a.m. this morning, we were notified of a power outage affecting Strough Middle School," said Superintendent Peter C. Blake in an email to parents. "Currently, the power is not scheduled to return until approximately noon. Due to this report from the power company, and our inability to provide meals for students today, Strough will be dismissing at 10:15 a.m."
No reason for the outages was listed on the National Grid Power Outage website, however, crews were listed as being on the scene of the outages as of 9:30 a.m. The estimated restoration time for electricity was 12:35 p.m.
