Stress relief on tap at Woodland Farm Brewery
MARCY/BOONVILLE — Woodland Farm Brewery owner/brewer Keith Redhead says renovating the historic Hulbert House taproom in Boonville was the business’ major accomplishment of 2022. And now, serving patrons there is what he is looking forward to most as the brewery moves into 2023.
“I’ve always appreciated the history of the Hulbert House and its centerpiece in the Boonville community,” Redhead said. “For the years that it had been closed, there was a lot of worries that the 200-year tradition of gathering was gone forever. I’m happy to be a part of the long and continuous story that the Hulbert House has.”
They did their best to retain as much of the original taproom, Redhead said, including keeping the famed round bar, paintings by John Mahaffey and even the moose head on the wall, all while sprucing it up with some new life, new drinks and new food.
Their efforts have been well-received.
“Since opening, we’ve had a lot of positive feedback and excitement of people that have memories from weddings, graduations and parties to just having one too many pints at the bar,” Redhead said. “The next generation of Boonville is now able to experience and be part of the Hulbert House’s story.”
After seven years in business, Redhead promises at Woodland Farm Brewery they brew beer that tastes like beer - proudly brewing traditional styles with a focus on lagers and barrel aging. The microbrewery is based in Marcy with their original taproom located right there at the brewery.
Their tap list covers all varieties from easy drinking European inspired lagers, hoppy IPAs, big malty high octane beers and everything in between. Meanwhile, the kitchen offers pub fare like burgers, paninis, flatbread pizzas and the beloved tot waffle, all using fresh, quality and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.
Watch for weekly and seasonal specials, encouraged Redhead.
The 10-barrel brewhouse produces fresh new batches regularly - brewed with patience and time as an extra ingredient - to give their lagers the perfect amount of time to condition. Their barrel-aged beers spend between one to three years developing before they are ready to be served. Many of their barrels are sourced from New York State distilleries, wineries and cooperages with several of them winning awards across the country.
Woodland Farm Brewery also carries a host of New York State hard ciders, wines and spirits. Craft cocktails will vary based on the season, with a mainstay being their ever-popular adult root beer float.

Redhead said Woodland Farm Brewery offers a fun and comfy place to host a group gathering or to have an event with delicious locally crafted beer and food. He enjoys being able to help folks wind down from their day with a brew.
“Besides brewing itself, the best part about the brewery business is giving people a place to get together around a pint of beer that I’ve made myself,” he said. “Hopefully, it provides a few moments with friends and family, away from the stress and tedium of the day to day!”
