State Hearing and Audiology hosting open house
WHITESBORO — State Hearing and Audiology, 113 Main St., is having an open house through Monday, May 8. The event is open to the public with an emphasis on state employees with the Empire Plan as the company is an in-network provider for diagnostic testing.
“At State Hearing & Audiology, we understand that every customer is different,” said owner Jon Suarez. “That is what we love about our job. We specialize in finding the hearing aid that strikes the right balance for the patient’s needs. We know it has to correct the type of hearing loss, match the patient’s lifestyle, fit comfortably, and be affordable. We offer a free trial period so the customer won’t make a payment until they are satisfied.”
Audiologist Carl Chiasson will be available for consultation. Chiasson is a second-generation hearing aid dispenser whose father established the first hearing aid dealership in northern New York. He received his doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry School of Audiology in 2002. He was an instructor in the department of hearing and speech science at Plattsburgh State University for 17 years, where he taught courses in general and rehabilitative audiology.
“Most people are unaware of the effect diminished hearing can have on both physical and mental well-being,” Suarez said. “Most people are also unaware that most hearing aid dispensers are not audiologists; and are, therefore, not licensed to properly or legally diagnose hearing loss.”
State Hearing and Audiology is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday. For questions, call 315-765-6935.
