OSCEOLA — A Monroe County man was killed when his snowmobile crashed into a tree in Lewis County Sunday night, according to the New York State Police.

Troopers said Dean J. Beck, 49, of Spencerport, was southbound on Potter Road at about 8:49 p.m. Sunday when he failed to negotiate a sharp curve in Trail C5C. Troopers said the snowmobile left the trail, went down a steep embankment and crashed into a tree.

Beck was ejected from his snowmobile and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities stated. The crash remains under investigation.
