Snowmobiler airlifted after Lewis Co. accident
TOWN OF LEWIS — An Oswego County man was air-lifted to a Syracuse hospital after he was thrown off his snowmobile into the path of another rider in Lewis County Friday evening, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said Mark Simpson, 46, of Parish, was riding westbound on trail C4A at about 6:45 p.m. when he was thrown off his snowmobile. Deputies said Simpson landed on the trail and was hit by another rider in his group.
Simpson suffered injuries to his lower body and he was flown by Mercy Flight helicopter to University Hospital in Syracuse, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation.
