Snow emergencies declared: Utica, New York Mills

Snow emergencies have been declared for the City of Utica and the Village of New York Mills ahead of tonight's snowstorm.

According to the National Weather Service, anywhere from five to 12 inches of snow is expected to fall on Oneida County and the rest of the Mohawk Valley. A winter storm warning has been issued for Oneida, Herkimer and Otsego counties.

-In Utica, the snow emergency will begin at 10 p.m. All vehicles must be removed from city streets by 10 p.m. with no exceptions, city officials said. This is to make room for snow removal and emergency services.

Any vehicle parked on Utica city streets after 10 p.m. is subject to ticketing and towing at the owner's expense, city officials said.

-In New York Mills, the snow emergency will go into effect at 9 p.m. Any vehicle parked on village streets after 9 p.m. are also subject to ticketing and towing at the owner's expense.
