Registration for the May Food $en$e program — open to everyone regardless of income — will be held at Lake Delta Fire Department, the Presbyterian Church in Holland Patent, and Karing Kitchen in Oneida.
All sites will be following CDC guidelines, requiring masks and social distancing.
Food $en$e is a discount food program provided by the Central New York Food Bank. Everyone is welcome to participate. There are no income guidelines.
The $20.50 per unit cost is payable at the time of registration by cash or food stamps. Multiple units can be purchased. There are also extras which can be purchased with or without the basic unit. Sign-ups are scheduled at:
• Those participating in the Town of Lee program can place orders today, April 30, from 1 to 3 p.m.; and Thursday, May 6, from 7-8 p.m. at the Lake Delta Fire Department, 8508 Elmer Hill Road. Those who usually participate in the Rome UMC program are encouraged to use this program for the time being.
Orders may be picked up on Friday, May 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, call 315-336-0742 or 315-358-4150.
• Foothills Rural Community Ministry, Presbyterian Church, Holland Patent (across from the park just off Route 365).
Registration is today, April 30, from 1 to 2 p.m. or Saturday, May 1, between 10 and 11 a.m. The food may be picked up between 1 and 2 p.m. Friday, May 21, or from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22. (Frozen foods will be kept in a freezer for the Saturday pickup).
• Karing Kitchen, 116 West Grove St., Oneida, is accepting orders by appointment only — call 315-280-0869.
The May package includes ground beef, chicken thighs, kielbasa, breaded fish, bologna, cheddar cheese, fresh potato salad, elbow macaroni, frozen strawberries, canned corn, and two fresh produce items.
May Specials
Specials, which may be purchased in addition to the package or separately, are:
Beef Patties - 2 lbs. for $7.25: quarter pound patties 100% all beef
Chicken Tenders - 2 lbs. for $5: breaded and fully-cooked
American Cheese - 5 lbs. for $11: sliced, not individually wrapped
Protein Box - 6 lbs. for $10: includes Italian meatballs, chicken tenders, tilapia fillets, hot dogs, ground turkey
Onion Rings - 2.5 lbs. for $6.75: ready to cook in the oven or fryer
Pulled Pork - 1 lb. for $6.50: fully-cooked and in a Carolina BBQ sauce
Stuffed Shells - 3 lbs. for $6: stuffed with a ricotta cheese filling
