Food $en$e is back!

Registration for the October Food $en$e program — open to everyone regardless of income — will be held at First United Methodist Church in Rome, the First Baptist Church in Rome, Lake Delta Fire Department, the Presbyterian Church in Holland Patent, and Karing Kitchen in Oneida.

All sites will be following CDC guidelines, requiring masks and social distancing.

Food $en$e is a discount food program provided by the Central New York Food Bank. Everyone is welcome to participate. There are no income guidelines. The $20.50 per unit cost is payable at the time of registration by cash or food stamps. Multiple units can be purchased. There are also extras which can be purchased with or without the basic unit. Sign-ups are scheduled at:

• First United Methodist Church, 400 N. George St.: Registration will be held Friday, Sept. 25, from noon-2 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 11, from noon-1 p.m.

Registrations, for pickup at First United Methodist, will also be accepted from 10 a.m. to noon Thursdays, through Thursday, Oct. 8, at the First Baptist Church, 301 W. Embargo St.

The food may be picked up Friday, Oct. 23, between noon and 2 p.m. in First United Methodist Church. Sign-ups for the following month will also be accepted when picking up food. For information, call 315-336-1740.

• Those participating in the Town of Lee program can place orders on Friday, Sept. 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 1, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Lake Delta Fire Department, 8508 Elmer Hill Road.

Orders may be picked up on Friday, Oct. 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, call 315-336-0742 or 315-358-4150.

• Foothills Rural Community Ministry, Presbyterian Church, Holland Patent (across from the park just off Route 365).

Registration is Friday, Sept. 25, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. or Saturday, Sept. 26, between 10 and 11 a.m. The food may be picked up between 12:30 and 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, or from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. (Frozen foods will be kept in a freezer for the Saturday pickup).

• Karing Kitchen, 116 West Grove St., Oneida, is accepting orders by appointment only — call 315-280-0860.

The October package includes pork tenderloin, fish sticks, chicken thighs, sliced turkey, salisbury patties, tuna fish, pierogies, egg noodles, frozen diced potatoes, applesauce, and two fresh produce items.

October Specials

Specials, which may be purchased in addition to the package or separately, are:

Chicken Tenders: 5 lbs. for $8 - breaded and can be used in the oven or fryer.

Stuffed Pork Chops: 2 lbs. for $8.50 - stuffed with apples and cranberries.

Shrimp: 1 lb. for $7.25 - uncooked, peeled, and de-veined.

Italian Meatballs: 5 lbs. for $12.50 - fully-cooked.

Mozzarella Sticks: 2 lbs. for $6.50 - pre-cooked and ready for the oven.

Hot Pockets: 8 oz. sandwiches for $20 - The Ham & Cheese Hot Pockets contain 12 sandwiches per special.
