Sign-up for February Food $en$e
Registration for the February Food $en$e program — open to everyone regardless of income — will be held in Rome, Lee, Camden, Holland Patent, and Oneida.
Food $en$e is a discount food program provided by the Central New York Food Bank. Everyone is welcome to participate. There are no income guidelines. The $20.50 per unit cost is payable at the time of registration by cash or food stamps. Multiple units can be purchased. There are also extras which can be purchased with or without the basic unit.
• Those participating in the Town of Lee program can place orders Friday, Jan. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m.; and Saturday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lake Delta Fire Department, 8508 Elmer Hill Road. Orders may be picked up on Friday, Feb. 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, call 315-271-5548 or 315-358-4150.
• Rome registration will be held at Redeemer Church, 129 N. Washington St., across from City Hall, Friday, Jan. 27, between 1 and 3 p.m. Parking in the City Hall’s lot will be available. Rome participants may also sign up Saturday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lake Delta Fire Department.
• In Camden, sign-ups will be held Jan. 27 at Abundant Life Church. Contact Stephenie at 315-795-9378 for more information.
• The Holland Patent program is hosted by Foothills Rural Community Ministry, Presbyterian Church (across from the park just off Route 365). Registration will be held Friday, Jan. 27, from noon to 2 p.m. The food may be picked up between noon and 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24. • Karing Kitchen, 116 West Grove St., Oneida, is accepting orders by appointment only — call 315-280-0869.
The February package includes marinated pork pieces, ground beef, loop kielbasa, fish sticks, boneless chicken breast, cheese pierogi, mild cheddar cheese, frozen diced potatoes, applesauce, white rice, and two fresh produce items.
February specials
Specials, which may be purchased in addition to the package or separately, are:
- Stuffed St. Louis style ribs (1 pc) 4.5 lbs. (avg.) for $7.50: pork ribs, not fully cooked.
- Stuffed chicken, 2 lbs. for $8.50: stuffed with apples and cranberries.
- French fries, 5 lbs. for $6.50: ready to cook and can be used in the oven or fryer.
- Shrimp scampi, 24 oz. for $6: a complete meal with shrimp, linguini pasta, and vegetables in a creamy garlic sauce.
- Lasagna roll-ups, 42 oz. for $6.50: stuffed with ricotta and Romano cheese and are over two and a half pounds.
- Meatloaf, 2 lbs. for $10.25: made with 100% ground beef.
