WHITESTOWN — The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office will be holding job fairs on Tuesday, Nov. 22, and Monday, Nov. 28, to help potential correctional officer applicants start the process.

The Training and Experience Exam for the position of correctional officer in the Oneida County Jail will be held between Dec. 15 and Jan. 15.

The exam is used when Civil Service has determined that specific education or experience is a good predictor of success at the job, officials said.

There will be no written or oral test for the exam, and will instead be a rating based upon an evaluation of a person’s training and experience.

The last day to sign up for the exam is Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Ahead of the exam, the Sheriff’s Office will hold job fairs on Nov. 22 and Nov. 28 at the Law Enforcement Building on Judd Road in
Whitestown.

The job fairs will run from noon to 7 p.m. on both days.

The job fairs will give applicants a chance to begin the background process, get fingerprinted, interviewed and will give them a chance to speak with workers.

Those interested will need to bring a completed background packet, which they can receive by emailing communityaffairs@oneidacountysheriff.us.

You will also need to bring an official copy of your birth certificate, a high school diploma or equivalent certificate, along with any other higher education degrees, a driver’s license, documentation of any existing litigation you’re involved with, discharge or separation papers for any military service, any government licenses and naturalization papers, if you are foreign-born, according to officials.

For questions or for additional information, people can email communityaffairs@oneidacountysheriff.us.
