Sentinel takes awards in state contest

Rome Sentinel Company’s advertising department received two New York Press Association and New York Newspaper Advertising and Marketing Executives awards for 2019.

This past week the NYPA and NYNAME Awards announced the winners of the 2019 Better Newspaper Contest.  The contest was judged by members of the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association.

There were 173 newspapers that submitted 2,918 entries.  Participating newspapers competed for awards in 64 categories, and for Newspaper of the Year, the Stewart C. Dorman Award for Editorial Excellence and the John J. Evans Award for Advertising Excellence.

The NYPA is comprised of approximately 800 weekly newspapers and NYNAME, part of the NY News Publishers Association, is comprised of approximately 50 daily newspapers in the state. With help from Linda Taylor-Doxtator, the Rome Sentinel Company submitted entries in 13 advertising-related categories and received two awards. They are:

Judge’s Comment: “This is nice collection of flyers and a wonderful example of what can be done with templates, etc., form services such as Metro Imagining. Myself, as a client in your area, these on-message flyers would break through clutter of other pitches and entice me without wasting my time.”
