ROME — A 33-year-old woman has been charged in a domestic dispute after she requested police come to her residence, according to the Rome Police Department.

Police said Laurie Simms, of Rome, went to the police station on North James Street around 11:10 p.m. Sept. 28 to report an argument she'd had with her husband earlier in the day. Police said Simms asked for help from patrol officers to check on her children, and she went with the officers back to her residence in Rome.

While at the residence, police said Simms confronted her husband outside and shoved him. She also threw a set of keys at the man. When Simms followed him down a set of stairs, she was stopped and taken into custody.

Simms is charged with one count of second-degree harassment, police said. She is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
