Rome woman charged after three toddlers found playing in street
ROME — A 28-year-old woman has been charged after three toddlers were found playing in the middle of Lynch Street in Rome, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said three children — two that are 1-year-old and a two-year-old — were found playing in the middle of Lynch Street without adult supervision at 10:43 a.m. Friday. Police said the children were also not dressed for the cold temperatures.
An officer responded to the scene and found the children unsupervised playing on a porch, police said. The officer spent some time trying to get the attention of someone in the home and eventually found 28-year-old Samantha L. Powell, of Rome, authorities stated. Powell told the officer that she was unaware that the children had left the home, police said.
Powell is charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, police said. She is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
