Rome woman accused of running from traffic stop
ROME — A 23-year-old woman is facing multiple charges after fleeing a traffic stop in Rome, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said they attempted to pull over Cara M. Grindlay, of Rome, for traffic violations on Turin Street at North George Street around 10 p.m. Feb. 8. Police said Grindlay refused to pull over and took several turns before finally stopping on Cherry Street.
Grindlay then got out of her vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, police stated. She was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit, authorities said.
Once in custody, police said Grindlay claimed she had swallowed something and needed to be taken to Rome Health, so she as brought to the hospital.
Grindlay is charged with one count of second-degree obstruction of a governmental administration and several vehicle and traffic violations, police stated. She is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
