A Rome teenager has been charged with sexually abusing an underage girl, according to the county Child Advocacy Center.
Investigators said a 16-year-old boy, whose identity was not released due to his young age, had sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl.
Authorities said they were notified on Aug. 21 and the boy was charged on Thursday with one count of second-degree sexual abuse, a misdemeanor.
The boy will appear before Juvenile Probation to answer his charge.
The victim has been offered counseling through the CAC, according to the law enforcement officials.
