On Saturday, July 24, the Rome Sports Hall of Fame and Museum held its 28th annual Golf Tournament fundraiser at Rome Country Club.
This year’s tournament was the largest in our history with 26 teams participating and over 198 hole sponsorships.
The Golf Committee and the Board of Directors gratefully acknowledges the teams, local businesses and individuals who contributed to the success of the event. The funds raised are essential to help pay for insurance as well as maintenance and upkeep of the museum at 5790 Rome New London Road.
While we were forced to cancel last year’s tournament due to the pandemic, we were overwhelmed with the participants and businesses who so generously donated to this year’s event.
The Rome Sports Hall of Fame and Museum doesn’t receive any governmental funding so it relies on fundraisers such as the golf tournament as well as grants, donations and bequests.
We are the only municipal Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in New York and extremely proud of what we have built over the years to honor Rome’s sports history.
Our hours of operation are Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday. You can call us at 315-339-9038.
We are on Facebook and welcome visits there as well as on our website at www.romesportshalloffame.com — where people can find out more information about the museum as well as see a listing of Rome Sports Hall of Fame inductees by year. Additionally, a schedule of future events can also be found on the website.
Once again, thank you so much for continuing to support “The House that Romans Built.”
