Rome Rotary Club still accepting shoe donations

Rome Rotary Club is still looking for all types of new or gently-worn shoes and sports cleats to be donated to Micro-Entrepreneurs, an organization that creates a path out of poverty by establishing businesses to repair and sell the shoes in their local communities.

A drive-in/drop-off shoe collection will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Rome Art and Community Center, 308 W. Bloomfield St.

Saturday will be the final drive-in/drop-off event, according to drive organizers.

Those who cannot make the March 20 event may also drop shoes off at Carla Till’s residence at 1605 N. George St. There is a collection bin located on her front porch.

Rome Rotary is also offering the chance to support local entrepreneurs by ordering baked products from Tatum’s Treats bakery. Orders of baked goods may be picked up during the drive-in/drop-off drive at RACC. The owner of Tatum’s Treats is donating a portion of her proceeds to the Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign.
