ROME — A 47-year-old man is facing multiple charges after attacking his girlfriend and causing a scene on Locomotive Avenue very early Sunday morning, according to the Rome Police Department.

Police said Christopher B. Johnson, of Rome, was involved in a domestic dispute with his female companion at a residence in the 100 block of Locomotive Ave. at about 3 a.m. Sunday. Police said Johnson kicked in the back door and shoved his girlfriend into the bathroom, where he choked her from behind.

Johnson eventually left the residence and was shouting in the roadway, drawing multiple neighbors from their homes, police stated.

Johnson is charged with one count each of second-degree harassment, criminal obstruction of breathing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, authorities said. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
