Rome man charged with harassment, obstruction of breathing
ROME — A 38-year-old man has been charged on the heels of a domestic dispute with his girlfriend on Mohawk Street, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said William B. Holland, of Rome, got into an argument with his girlfriend at a residence in the 300 block of Mohawk Street around 3:22 p.m. Sunday. During the argument, police said Holland put his hand over the woman's mouth and nose, cutting off her ability to breathe.
Holland then shoved her up against a pantry door, police said, before the woman's teenage son intervened and the woman was able to call 911.
Holland is charged with one count each of second-degree harassment and criminal obstruction of breathing, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
