Rome man accused of stealing 80 bottles of 5-Hour Energy

ROME  — A 41-year-old man is accused of stealing $280 worth of 5-Hour Energy from the Byrne Dairy store on Erie Boulevard East, according to the Rome Police Department.

Police said Dwayne C. Cowell, of Rome, stole five cases of 5-Hour Energy around 9:40 a.m. Dec. 29.

Police said each case holds 16 individual drinks, and the total cost is $280. Cowell dumped the drinks into his bag and left the store without paying, authorities stated.

A warrant was issued for Cowell and he was taken into custody on Monday.

Cowell is charged with one count of petty larceny, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
